| Letter From the
President |
Dear Shamrox fan,
We’re
at the halfway point of our 2007 Inaugural Season of
Chicago Shamrox indoor lacrosse. And we thank you
for the support, the enthusiastic support that you
have given YOUR Chicago Shamrox. In this edition of
Shamrox Scoop, you’ll learn about our upcoming
promotions, our special Opening Night Panoramic
Photo, our two Shamrox All-Star selections, St.
Patrick’s Night and more Shamrox news.
We have been working hard to make each game a fun
experience and to make our fans a part of the game.
We have received a lot of positive feedback from
fans via email, letters, phone calls or talking with
us at the Sears Centre. We appreciate the kind
comments. We have also learned of ways in which we
can do a better job, too. So let us know what you
think.
On the field, we started out 3-1 but have run into
some tough games recently, a couple of one-goal
nail-biting losses, so we stand 3-5 at the
mid-season point. With a break or two, we could be
5-3 or even 6-2, a remarkable record for an
expansion team. But going into the last 8 games of
the regular season, here’s what we know….we have 5
of our last 8 games at Home. And the Eastern
Division has a logjam in the standings with the
playoff spots still up for grabs. One game can make
a difference. Head Coach Jamie Batley, the coaching
staff and all the players are giving it everything
they’ve got to be the hardest working team in the
league. So as we head into the stretch drive, we
need the support of all our fans at our home games.
We need to be a Unit of One. GO ROX.
Speaking of Home Games, our next home game is St.
Patrick’s Night (how appropriate) on Saturday March
17th at 7:30pm at the Sears Centre against first
place Rochester. It is CODE GREEN NIGHT…..everyone
comes to the game in GREEN to cheer for the Shamrox
on St. Pat’s. I might even face paint myself. It
will be a festive night with lots of fun for the
fans. We want to PACK THE PLACE. So spread the word,
order your tickets now, bring someone new to the
game so they can experience Shamrox indoor lacrosse,
and wear GREEN. Check out our website for more info
about CODE GREEN NIGHT.
Shamrox fans, thanks again. This is YOUR team. Come
“dressed and ready to cheer” and we’ll see you
Shamrox indoor lacrosse at the Sears Centre.
GO SHAMROX!!
Sincerely,
Conrad “Connie” Kowal
President

Woods and Miller Make All-Star Team |
|
By: Barrett Sallee |
Chicago Shamrox defenseman Cam Woods and goaltender
Brandon Miller have been announced as members for
the 2007 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game,
which will be played at the Rose Garden in Portland,
Oregon on Saturday, March 10 at 9:00 p.m. CST. Woods
will start in the game for the Eastern Division and
Miller will serve as backup goaltender.
Woods, who is currently the Captain of the Chicago
Shamrox and was the 2004 NLL Co-Defensive Player of
the Year, will be making his third appearance at the
All-Star Game in just the eight years he has been
playing in the NLL. Woods was acquired via trade
from San Jose in July 2006.
“I am so honored to be selected as a member of the
2007 NLL All-Star Game,” said Cam Woods. “This is a
great honor to be selected as team member and a
starter. I am proud to represent all of my Chicago
Shamrox teammates this March in Portland.”
Miller is 5th in the NLL with 312 saves and
currently has an 12.17 goals against average. His
play in net anchors the defense for the Shamrox and
has earned him the NLL Defensive Player of the Week
award twice so far in 2007. It will be his first
appearance in the NLL All-Star Game.
“Brandon’s played great all year.” said Shamrox Head
Coach/GM Jamie Batley. “Statistically, he is up
there as one of the top goalies in the league. He
has been the backbone of our defense and has shown
that he can be a premiere goalie in this league.” |

The Knighthawks beat the Shamrox in their first
matchup this year, 13-8, on February 3 at the Blue
Cross Arena in Rochester, NY. The Shamrox converted
just three of their 10 power-play opportunities and
gave up six power play goals in the loss. Tom
Montour led the scoring charge for the Shamrox with
5 points (2g, 3a) while Scott Evans racked up 8
points (4g, 4a) to lead the Knighthawks offensive
attack.
After visiting the Philadelphia Wings for the
first time on March 24, the Shamrox will fly back
home and take on the New York Titans on Sunday,
March 25, at 3:00 p.m. CDT at the Sears Centre in
Hoffman Estates, Ill. This will be the rubber game
of the season series between the two first-year
teams. The Shamrox beat the Titans 15-12 on Opening
Night at the Sears Centre behind hat tricks from
Chris Panos, Josh Wasson and Bill McGlone. Brandon
Miller made 46 saves on the night. Two weeks later,
the Shamrox fell to the Titans, 11-9, at Madison
Square Garden in New York City.
The Shamrox close the month of March with a trip to
Buffalo, N.Y. on March 31 to take on the Buffalo
Bandits at 6:30 p.m. CDT at the HSBC Arena. The
Bandits beat the Shamrox 12-11 on February 11 at the
Sears Centre in the only other meeting between the
two teams. The Shamrox return home the next day,
April 1, to take on the Edmonton Rush for a matinee
