Joe Sullivan Announced As New Offensive Coordinator For Shamrox

December 12, 2007 / Press Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL December 12, 2007 – The Chicago Shamrox announced today the hiring of Joe Sullivan as the new Offensive Coordinator for the 2008 season. Sullivan, who has over 20 years of lacrosse experience, has coached Minor Lacrosse as well as Major Series Lacrosse up in Canada.

“This is a great opportunity for me to help the Shamrox offensive players develop their skills,” said Sullivan. “Jamie [Batley] is one of the best coaches in the entire NLL and I turned down a head coaching job just to take this position because I can learn so much from him. He knows what it takes to win in the league and he dedicates himself to his team as well as to his players.”

Over the past four years, Sullivan served on Batley’s coaching staff at the Peterborough Lakers of the Major Series Lacrosse League. Though Batley has not been the Head Coach of an NLL Championship Team, he has led the Peterborough Lakers to three National Championships in four years. Peterborough is regarded as the Chicago Bulls of the Major Series Lacrosse League.

“Joe [Sullivan] is a professional,” said Head Coach/GM Jamie Batley. “We look forward to his contributions to the Shamrox this year.”

Even though the Shamrox will not have that many rookies on their team in 2008 versus 2007, Sullivan will play a key role in the development of the Chicago Shamrox younger offensive players such as Josh Wasson and Bill McGlone, both of which were standouts in their rookie seasons with the team.

The Chicago Shamrox are currently selling season, group and individual tickets. Individual tickets can be purchased by calling the Sears Centre box office at 888-SEARSTIX or by going online at www.searscentre.com. Season and group tickets (featuring discounts and benefits) can be purchased by calling the Shamrox front office at 877-SHAMROX. The Shamrox take the field for their second season in Chicago on January 5 when they play the Toronto Rock at 7:00pm at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. The 2008 season features 8 Home Games that are played on weekend dates. In their Inaugural Season, the Shamrox drew an average attendance of 6,025 and record of 6-10, missing the playoffs by a tie breaker.
