HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL January 8, 2008 –Although the loss last Saturday night to the Toronto Rock was a dreadful way to begin the 2008 season, there was news circulating around the stadium quietly that a major newspaper in the Chicago market had assigned a beat writer to cover the team for the entire 2008 season.

The Daily Herald, one of the top 100 circulating newspapers in the country, has assigned writer Matt Beardmore to cover all eight Chicago Shamrox home games at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. With nearly 150,000 readers daily, the Daily Herald is the third largest newspaper in Illinois behind the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times.

“Having Matt assigned to cover the Shamrox for the Daily Herald newspaper shows that we [the Shamrox] are making enormous progress in terms of penetrating the market place,” said Director of Public Relations Joe Stefani. “Daily Herald is the place for suburban news in Chicago and now fans can enjoy reading about the Shamrox in the Daily Herald on a regular basis. Last year we averaged 6,025 fans per game and by having 6,116 fans at the game last Saturday night, it indicates that we are making progress in expanding our fan base.”

The next Chicago Shamrox game is this Saturday, January 12, when the team travels to Philadelphia to take on the Wings at 6:30pm. Fans can watch the game live on the B2 Network, which can be accessed by clicking on the B2 Network banner on the Chicago Shamrox web site 10 minutes before the game starts. Cost to view the game is only $7.

Tickets are on sale for the remaining seven home games of the 2008 season. Season and group tickets, featuring discounts and benefits, can be purchased by calling the Shamrox front office at 877-SHAMROX. The 2008 season features 8 home games that are played on weekend dates. During the Inaugural Season in 2007, the Shamrox drew an average attendance of 6,025 and a record of 6-10, with the team missing the playoffs by a tie breaker.
