HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL January 9, 2008 – Chicago Shamrox rookie Bobby McBride was honored today by the National Lacrosse League (NLL) as Transition Player and Rookie of the Week for the second week of play in the NLL season.

McBride, who had 2 goals, 1 assist and 3 loose balls in the loss to Toronto at home last Saturday night, is a 25-year-old transition player who was originally drafted in 2002 by Toronto but signed as a free agent with the Shamrox this summer. Last Saturday night’s game also served as McBride’s first appearance in the league.

“I am just happy to be playing lacrosse, especially in a league like this [the NLL],” said McBride. “Receiving both of these awards was not expected; I just went out and played to the best of my ability. Last Saturday night’s game served personally as a gage for the season.”

This is the first time in the NLL history that a player received both the Transition Player and Rookie of the Week awards both in the same week.

The next Chicago Shamrox game is this Saturday, January 12, when the team travels to Philadelphia to take on the Wings at 6:30pm. Fans can watch the game live on the B2 Network, which can be accessed by clicking on the B2 Network banner on the Chicago Shamrox web site 10 minutes before the game starts. Cost to view the game is only $7.
