Do the Shamrox plan anymore promotion giveaways during the 2008 season?
- - Jeremy, Gurnee
Part of the spectacle on Opening Night was the fact that there was a giveaway item for fans. For those who did not attend the game, the first 2,000 kids got Chipotle thunderstix and the first 2,000 adults got a card for a free Chipotle burrito. To answer your question, there will be some other games that a giveaway item will be handed out. An announcement will be made sometime over the next week or two.
Robbie Gould was at the first game again like the first game last year. Is he a fan of the Shamrox?
- - Adam, Naperville
Robbie was actually at several games last season during the Shamrox’ Inaugural Season. I can’t speak for Robbie, but I think anyone that comes to several games during an 8 game season must like game/team/sport.
Why are there so many Canadians on the team?
- - Nikki, Brookfield
The talent pool of lacrosse players in Canada is very strong and much stronger than the United States. Look at Major League Soccer (MLS) and you will find that there are not a lot of players from the United States for the same reasons. As the sport of lacrosse grows in the United States on the youth level, you will find more players entering the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Work on your lacrosse skills and maybe you might make the team one day. FYI, girls are allowed on NLL teams.
What is dance team practice like?
- - Justin, Elgin
Justin, GREAT question! The dance team practices once a week at an undisclosed location that only me, myself and I know of (and a few others as well). Practice is usually anywhere from two to four hours long and during the practice, our dance team director, Kim, is making the girls run the dances over and over again. On some occasions though, you will find the dance team in the studio practicing multiple times per week.
