February 20, 2008 / Barret Sallee

Posted every Wednesday, Steve Myszka’s column will examine different aspects of the Chicago Shamrox organization.

Brandon Miller has been with three teams but enjoys Chicago the best.

Brandon Miller, regarded as the ‘brick wall,’ is the starting goalie for the Chicago Shamrox and also the last line of defense. Last Saturday night I had the chance to sit down with Brandon at the team’s hotel and ask him a few questions about lacrosse and other issues.

Steve Myszka: Why did you start playing lacrosse?
Brandon Miller: Hockey was over and our hockey team all just switched to lacrosse.

SM: Why did you choose goalie?
BM: I started out as a player, but I filled in for our goalie during a game and I absolutely loved it.

SM: What is it like playing in Chicago as opposed to the other teams you’ve been with?
BM: It’s all very new. New fans, new city, and its been fun to watch it begin from nothing.

SM: What has been your greatest experience so far in the NLL?
BM: My championship game in Albany and the All-Star Game last year

SM: How was it playing in your first All-Star Game last season?
BM: Better than I could have imagined. It was so much fun!

SM: Do you have any superstitions or good luck charms?
BM: I always talk to my daughter, Avery, before every game.

SM: Favorite pre-game meal?
BM: Chicken parmesan

SM: If you weren’t playing lacrosse, what would you be doing?
BM: I’d be in a rock band.

SM: Guy on the team you wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley?
BM: Drew Candy.

SM: Favorite TV show?
BM: American Idol. I also watch a lot of Mickey Mouse right now.

SM: What’s your outlook on the rest of the season?
BM: To make the playoffs.

SM: Favorite off-season activity?
BM: Definitely golfing.

SM: If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
BM: Hockey because it is so similar to lacrosse.

SM: Where would you rather have your hometown be? Orangeville, where you currently live or Chicago?
BM: Chi-Town!
