The Chicago Shamrox (3-7) host the Philadelphia Wings (7-3) on Saturday at the Sears Centre Arena at 7:00 PM. The Shamrox, who have won two straight, hope to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win, while the Wings, who have lost two straight since starting the season 7-1, look to preserve their spot atop the East Division standings for another week.

Philadelphia won the first meeting between the two teams, 19-11, at Wachovia Center back in January.

Since starting the season 6-0, the Wings have lost three of their last four games, surrendering 61 goals in the three losses. While the Wings have no trouble scoring (they lead the league at 15 goals per game), they have allowed a league-worst 14.6 goals per game.

“If anything we’re going to play faster; we’re the kind of team that if we play fast we do well,” said Wings head coach Dave Huntley. “We’re very confident in the guys we have and we’re comfortable with our playing style.”

Athan Iannucci scored a season-low three goals last week, but he’s still on pace to shatter Gary Gait’s single-season scoring record of 61. Iannucci has a league-leading 46 goals through 10 games.

Jake Bergey is also having a stellar season with 24 goals.

Shamrox goaltender Matt Roik will make his first start against his former team on Saturday. Since being traded for Brandon Miller midseason, Roik is 2-1 with the Shamrox and has stopped 81% of the shots he has faced.

“Their record in the last few games is more reflective of the quality of the team that they are than what it was in their first few games,” added Huntley. “Matt has been terrific for them, as he was for us last year.”

Offensive and Overall Player of the Week Cody Jacobs scored six goals to lead the Shamrox offense last week. Mat Giles has 16 goals for the Shamrox while Jonas Derks has scored 13.

Philadelphia’s Thomas Hajek has appealed his one-game suspension and is expected to play on Saturday.
