The New York Titans (7-6) host the Chicago Shamrox (5-7) tonight at Madison Square Garden at 6:30 PM CT.
The Shamrox, who have won four straight games, must keep winning if they want to stay alive in the playoff race. The Titans can put a dagger in Chicago’s playoff dreams, as well as move one step closer to achieving their own.
“The win streak they’ve been on just speaks for itself,” said Titans head coach Adam Mueller. “They’re going to be a confident bunch coming in.”
The Shamrox have plenty of reasons to be confident, as they look to knock off their fifth consecutive East Division opponent. Goaltender Matt Roik has led the team with an 80% save percentage through the team’s last four games.
“It’s not a secret in this league,” said Shamrox head coach Jamie Batley. “It’s like the NFL — you’ve got to have a good quarterback. Here, you’ve got to have a good goaltender.”
New York’s Matt Vinc has also been instrumental to his team’s success. Vinc has posted a 76% save percentage this season.
“If both goalies are hot it should be a barn-burner,” added Batley.
